Ian started his yachting career in 1987 aboard M.Y. Lazy Devil and enjoyed adventurous cruising on the Amazon and Orinoco rivers in South America. Since then, Ian has followed the more traditional yachting routes of the Mediterranean and Caribbean aboard Motor Yachts Virginian, Leander and Katrion. Ian and Bruce share the position of captain, and when Ian is not on board, he can be found in his recently renovated apartment in Barcelona, Spain, enjoying a glass of Rioja. Aside from yachting; his other passions are golf, tennis, marathon running and snowboarding.

Captain – Bruce Handyside – British

Bruce started in yachting in 1996 completing his first trans-Atlantic on S.Y. Jasali. From Jasali, he moved up through the ranks working on yachts such as Samax and Faribana before taking command on M.Y. Blue Shadow C at the end of 2003. Gareth enjoys a variety of sports, but in particular, tennis (especially seeing Captain Ian off the court in Antigua), golf (except when Ian exacts his revenge!) rugby and surfing.

Deck Hand – Mark Kaneko – New Zealand

Mark qualified as a professional bartender and worked in numerous well known establishments in his home town, Auckland, prior to yachting. But it was a chance meeting that gave him his opportunity, and he worked on the yacht Ulysses whilst she was in Auckland. This opportunity furthered Mark’s desire to travel and enabled him to pursue a career afloat and he joined JO in May 2006. Outside of work, in fact even when he should be working, Mark enjoys fishing, swimming, and surfing!

Deckhand – Dave Stedman – New Zealand

After a Mediterranean season on board Blue Shadow in 1994, David returned to his beloved home country, New Zealand, where he followed a career as a financial planner in Auckland. The call of the sea, his old shipmates and following a little of his own financial advice has brought him back to yachts, and he joined JO in March 2007. Dave's interests include diving, sailing and kite surfing, David is also a stern supporter of MO-vember Campaign.

Chef – David Beltran – Spanish/Swiss

David joined the industry in 1996 working on M.Y. Blue Shadow C where he has remained for over 10 years.
